I qualified in Medicine at Edinburgh University in 1973 and trained as an Anaesthetist in the NHS gaining my Fellowship of the Faculty of Anaesthetists of the Royal College of Surgeons (FFARCS) in 1978.
After I married, and while my children were small, I worked part time in the Anaesthetic Department of St Richards Hospital, Chichester and became interested in Acupuncture as an adjunct to conventional western medicine.
I retired from the NHS in 1999 and since then practiced Acupuncture in my own private practice associated with a physiotherapy clinic and on a voluntary basis at St Wilfrids Hospice, Chichester.
On my husbands retirement in 2011, we moved to Norfolk to be near our daughter and for the last 3 years I have worked voluntarily as an acupuncturist at Starthrowers Cancer support centre in Wymondham.
I hope that my background as a medical doctor gives reassurance to my clients.
I am a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS) which provides training and regulation for doctors providing acupuncture.Their website, www.medical-acupuncture.co.uk, offers a great resource for patients considering acupuncture.
I am registered with the General Medical Council (GMC)reg. no. 1333688 and have fully comprehensive medical insurance through Balens.
